Custom Towels

The only thing my husband requested for purchasing my great embroidery maching was that I create customized towels for our lake-house. This was it. I've finished 6 towels in all with about 8 more to go.

This was my first time using digitizer - a feature of the professional version of 3D - Embroidery. We created a photo of the actual lake house in digitizer to sew. That was fun, but not nearly as intuitive as I had hoped. It took about 6 hours just to get the design right and it was still too dense for the fabric. Sewing was hard. Good quality towels have a huge pile and with the dense design I had needles breaking and the pile getting caught in the plate of the machine all the time. They took about 1 hour per towel to embroider, but you had to stay on constant alert to watch for problems. All in all it wasn't a fun project, but I am very glad that I did it.

Customized Baby Towels

So, I found out I was pregnant and there was this great embroidery machine sitting there so I really thought that I needed to customized absolutely everything for my new boy. I did 26 customized wash cloths and towels in his nursery colors. It was fun to do and only took about 15 minutes each to finish in this simple font. However, hooping towels on a regular large hoop isn't fun. I see the endless embroidery hoop in my near future.
